Nicholas Morris
Chairman

Nicholas is an economist with 30 years in-depth experience in water, energy, transport, infrastructure and regulation. He was a co founder and Chief Executive of London Economics for 14 years and previously Deputy Director of the Institute for Fiscal Studies. Nicholas has an MA in Engineering and Economics and an MPhil in Economics from Balliol College, Oxford. He has been a visiting Professor of City University, a Governor of the charity ‘Research into Ageing’ and a Fellow of Melbourne University and he is currently a Trustee of Oxford Policy Institute. For the last 9 years he has worked extensively in South East Asia and China advising governments, regulators and companies. He also advises China’s capital market regulator and lectures at a prominent Chinese Leadership Academy.

Peter Bedson
Executive Director

Peter has more than 20 years experience in the energy industry including 10 years as Commercial Director of an IPP and 5 years international consulting. He is a leading authority on wholesale markets and trading and has advised on market design in Europe and Internationally. In the UK he was a member of the Balancing Market and Transmission Access Expert Group advising on restructuring of the electricity market. Peter has a first class Honours BSc and a PhD, both from Manchester University. Peter is fluent in English and French.

Douglas Caskie
Executive Director

Douglas leads the IPA Energy + Water Economics gas economics practice. He is an energy economist with considerable experience of natural gas development planning, gas to power project economics, design of petroleum fiscal systems, energy sector tariff modelling and demand forecasting. Douglas has an MA in Economic Science from Aberdeen University.

Robert Solomon
Director

Robert has over 30 years experience initially as an academic economist and subsequently as an economic consultant working on major development initiatives across emerging economies of the Middle East, Africa and South East Asia. He has particular experience in post-war reconstruction planning, water and transport sector planning and project appraisal, and the planning and appraisal of large-scale urban expansion programs. He has a BSc, MA, PhD from City University, London, Warwick and Strathclyde respectively.
