Supercritical Coal Replant Assessment

IPA Energy + Water Economics assessed the economically optimum timing for existing coal-fired power stations in Great Britain to consider replanting with new, more efficient supercritical boilers rather than continuing operation of the existing subcritical units.  Using a discounted cash flow model, we evaluated the relative expected future economics of a supercritical replant in a range of years against those of the existing subcritical station under three different market scenarios.
