CCS Regional Demonstrator
IPA Economics, in consortium with Senergy Alternative Energy and Atkins Boreas, has just completed a study for the East of England Regional Development Agency (EEDA) looking at the scope for a regional demonstration of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS).
The project included a detailed study of the region that considered the potential for storage in the Southern North Sea as well as investigating the feasibility of re-use of existing infrastructure. In the report we highlight a number of novel approaches to developing a CCS demonstration project in the East of England area and the potential benefits associated with such a project.
The outcome was a detailed report delivered to EEDA highlighting a number of novel approaches to developing a CCS demonstration project in their area. This was also presented by Alice Waltham to EEDA and industry stakeholders at a discussion and dinner event.
Johnathan Reynolds, EEDA's Sustainable Development Manager said "The report by IPA and partners has been instrumental in helping us to shape our future thinking on supporting the development of CCS technologies with a view to maximising the economic potential for the East of England. Early feedback from industry peers has also praised the report as a valuable study with credible research, sound conclusions and pragmatic recommendations.”
