Regulation
Regulation is one of IPA Energy + Water Economics’ core competences. Across the utility and infrastructure sectors we work in three main areas:
- We work with public and private utilities to help assess regulatory risks and the impact on their business of regulatory developments; to benchmark their performance; and to prepare and present their case to the regulators, Governments and competition authorities. We also assist with the internal management of regulatory affairs, including development of regulatory strategy and regulatory compliance.
- We provide regulatory due diligence and regulatory risk assessment on mergers and acquisitions, investment appraisal and asset purchase and disposal, often in conjunction with our modelling colleagues who advise on project economics.
- We support Governments and regulators to develop and implement regulatory frameworks, including licences and concessions; price controls and tariffs; technical and market codes; quality standards and performance incentives.
We also offer a series of regulatory training courses.
