Corporate
IPA Energy + Water Economics is an economic consultancy providing services in pricing and markets, trading and risk, regulation, project economics, financing and PSP across the Electricity, Gas, Water, Sustainable Energy & Carbon and Infrastructure sectors.
With extensive international experience in over 80 countries, IPA is recognised as a leading specialised practice for infrastructure economics.
We work with major power and gas companies, utilities, water companies, project developers, market entrants, banks and lawyers providing advice on the economics, financing, regulation and market prospects for investment projects, for asset sale or purchase and for refinancing. We have advised on more than $25 billion of transactions.
We work with Governments and Regulatory bodies on creating and implementing markets for power, gas, carbon and water, and on the regulatory structures to encourage private sector participation in power, gas, water, transport and infrastructure on mutually advantageous terms.
As well as economics, we carry skills in finance, accounting, mathematical modelling, regulation and utility management. Our regulatory skills cover both economic and technical regulation. Nearly all IPA staff have first hand experience of working for major utilities or regulators prior to joining IPA Energy + Water Economics. This gives our work a strong practical bias.
Founded in 1989, IPA Energy + Water Economics now has offices in Edinburgh, London, Abu Dhabi and Melbourne. Since 2005, IPA Energy + Water Economics has been part of the DAR Group (www.dargroup.com) - one of the world’s top 15 international groups of professional services that also includes the Penspen Group (www.penspen.com) and T.Y. Lin International (www.tylin.com).
