Powerview July 2009 Available
14/07/2009PowerView provides a quarterly insight into the key drivers which are expected to impact on the electricity sector over the next 25 years including: energy commodity markets, UK and EU regulatory and legislative developments, and power station closures and deployment of new technology. It includes long-term forecasts for the development of the electricity generation mix and consequent electricity, gas, CO2, and Renewable Obligation Certificate (ROC) prices under three self-consistent scenarios.
This latest edition has been updated to take account of two policy announcements by the Government in late April, regarding additional support for early offshore wind farms and the demonstration and installation of carbon capture and storage (CCS) on new coal-fired power stations, both of which would appear to have significant implications for the long-term development of the GB electricity industry – although our analysis also identifies the potential for unintended consequences.
